Florentine Hötzel studied economics, cultural studies and philosophy with an emphasis on political theory, critique of contemporary civilization and intercultural philosophy in Germany and France.

Hötzel’s academic work is interdisciplinary, covering questions of justice, liberty, identity and responsibility from a cosmopolitanism perspective.

In her doctoral dissertation, Hötzel is exploring the implications of Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum’s capability theory for 21st-century global justice.
